Q: How does Salt Lake City’s nightlife compare to other cities?
“Salt Lake is ranked lower on the list of nightlife scenes because of the strict drinking laws plus the lack of singles scene and ridiculous other laws that kill the fun early. According to Forbes, SLC is ranked #34 in the top 40 city’s nightlife. New York is first and Cincinnati is last.”

Q: Where is Salt Lake City’s nightlife?
“Those 21 and older will find most the action after dark within 2 miles of downtown’s Temple Square. The younger crowd may find this stretch appealing also, however currently only a handful of downtown clubs are open to people under the age of 21, and very few venues cater to those under age 18. Park City, Utah continues to increase it’s number of clubs which are mostly aimed at a crowd of age 25-50. Minors, in any Utah city, are limited to restaurants open late, which usually require no minimum age limit.”

Q: What factor does music play in the Utah nightlife scene?
“It plays a big factor, as for me it’s one of the few things that can get me out the doors these days if a good band is playing at a local club. Going to shows seems to be a pretty universal thing that people like to do. The only question is “Do you like the band that is playing?” Also, going to shows seems to be a bit safer of an atmosphere than those clubs with pulsating music and flashing lights. Another good thing about music at smaller local clubs and bars is that it is usually reasonable priced. For 5 or 6 dollars you can see 4 to 5 bands in one night. But the answer to this question and the others will always come back to this: People always complain about there being nothing to do, but I believe that most of it comes to our lack of motivation to find something to do because there is plenty going on out there if we’re willing to look a little bit harder.”
